Overview

Client Information Insights (CII) is Elevance Health's enterprise client analytics platform, bringing together clinical, financial, pharmacy, utilization, membership, wellness, and other healthcare data into a unified reporting experience for employers, consultants, brokers, and internal business teams.

Rather than presenting information in disconnected silos, CII combines enterprise healthcare data into a single platform that helps clients understand the overall value of their healthcare programs through standardized reporting, interactive dashboards, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Over the course of fifteen years, I helped shape three generations of the platform—CII Access, CII Discover, and CII Evolve—while serving as the primary clinical subject matter expert supporting client-facing clinical reporting.

My Role

Over time, my responsibilities expanded well beyond individual reporting projects. As new clinical programs were introduced across the organization, I became the primary clinical subject matter expert responsible for helping ensure those programs could be accurately represented within CII.

I partnered with clinical operations, product, engineering, analytics, implementation, and business teams to translate complex clinical workflows into trusted reporting experiences that demonstrated program performance, member engagement, and business value. My work supported numerous healthcare domains including Care Management, Utilization Management, Behavioral Health, Building Healthy Families, Medical Benefits Management, Cancer Care Engagement, Wellness, Employee Assistance Programs, Population Health, and Carelon Rx reporting integration.

Rather than viewing reporting as isolated deliverables, I focused on helping CII present a unified story that connected clinical programs across the enterprise into a consistent client experience.

Growing the Platform

Over fifteen years, CII evolved from a traditional reporting application into a comprehensive enterprise client analytics platform supporting standard reports, interactive dashboards, self-service analytics, AI-enabled capabilities, and natural language exploration.

Throughout that evolution, I participated in both business-funded initiatives that introduced new healthcare data into the platform and ongoing product enhancements that improved usability, governance, performance, security, and overall customer experience.

As each new clinical initiative was delivered—including Total Health Connections, Building Healthy Families, Medical Benefits Management, Cancer Care Engagement, and numerous other healthcare programs—I worked to ensure those capabilities became integrated components of the broader enterprise reporting experience rather than standalone reporting solutions.

Business & Technology Alignment

One of the most meaningful aspects of my work involved strengthening collaboration between business and technology organizations.

Following the successful resolution of significant Medical Benefits Management reporting issues, I was asked to partner more closely with CII leadership to improve organizational communication, knowledge sharing, business alignment, and delivery practices across the organization.

During this time, I led initiatives focused on strengthening relationships between business and technology teams by creating quarterly Town Halls, developing new training programs, promoting knowledge sharing, expanding documentation standards, improving privacy and security education, gathering associate feedback through team surveys, and identifying opportunities to improve collaboration and long-term product delivery. These efforts emphasized helping teams better understand not only what they were building, but why it mattered to the business and the clients who relied on the platform.

AI & Knowledge Enablement

As CII continued evolving, I also helped support the organization's transition toward AI-enabled analytics and reporting experiences.

My work included providing the business context, clinical knowledge, reporting documentation, metric definitions, and user perspectives needed to strengthen capabilities such as SmartHelp, Smart Insights, conversational analytics, and AI-assisted reporting. I also championed stronger documentation, shared knowledge repositories, and training initiatives to help ensure AI capabilities were grounded in trusted business knowledge and meaningful healthcare context rather than technical information alone.

Results

Over the course of fifteen years, I helped support the evolution of CII into Elevance Health's enterprise client analytics platform, contributing to three generations of the product while serving as the organization's primary clinical subject matter expert for client-facing clinical reporting.

The platform continues to provide a unified experience that combines enterprise healthcare data into trusted client reporting, self-service analytics, AI-enabled capabilities, and executive insights supporting numerous healthcare programs across the organization.

The experience fundamentally shaped how I approach healthcare product development by reinforcing that technology creates the greatest value when it helps organizations tell a complete, trusted story rather than presenting disconnected information.

Healthcare data creates value only when it tells a complete, trusted story. The most successful products don't simply present information—they connect clinical programs, business objectives, and meaningful outcomes in ways that help people make better decisions.
